Google GIS Analyst Google Maps Interview Questions

Google India logoGoogle is hiring freshers/experienced people to work with them in Google Maps (Geographical Information Systems). I am receiving many requests asking me to publish the interview questions, so here are the Google Maps Interview Questions for the students who want to attend the GIS Analyst Interview. Students can attend this interviews through different consultancies. I have already attended the interview. I cleared all the rounds, but i lost in the final HR Interview in the Google office Hyderabad Office (Cyber Gate Ways). The final round is called as Client round, all the rounds before this round will be conducted in the respected consultancy office itself. Google Maps Personal Interview Experience

Google Geographical Information System(GIS) Interview questions:

Interview Questions:
Written Test Pattern:
Total Questions in the written test will be 40(approximately).

  • First 10 Questions (Geography)
  • Second 10 Questions (English)
  • Third 10 Questions Passage Answering (I excatly don’t remember)
  • Fourth 10 Questions (Logical Reasoning)

These are the questions for the written test, with written test you need to write an essay writing. There will be 8 topics, in which you need a select a topic. Here are some of the topics i remember.

1)Social Media.
2)Education System in India.
3)Pollution.

Coming to the Questions in the HR Round(Client Round) which will be conducted in the Google India Office.

1) Tell me about yourself.
2) Map Pointing (World Map). Please focus more on North America and South America.
3) General Aptitude Questions.
4) General Questions in Physics.
5) Please learn all the Capitals and Currencies.

Some other questions I faced:
1) Why your Academic Percentage is Less.
2) What’s the toughest decision you have made till now.
3) Why should i hire you.

Hello Bharath, i completed 5 rounds at ROFOUS and cleared a written test at GOOGLE. I got an appointment for the interview on OCT11 i.e Tuesday.I am little tensed because i am not good at geography.can u please help me out how to crack the interview. At any cost i want to get into the company.

Depends from the Consultancy from which you got selected. My Suggestion: Never Submit your Original Certificates.

Sir i atnted an interview for GT post in ROFOUS for GOOLGE so can you tell me wht is GT and wht will be the ctc will there be stability in GOOGLE or should i opt for othr interviews …?

Go to Rofous office and enquire or try though another consultancy. 17 Consultancies are hiring for google, why don’t you try the remaining 16 consultancies.

Hello Hari, Good Question, Answer is No Idea. I don’t know all the 16 consultancies. People in the outside world say that recruitment is going through 16 consultancies. I know only few, Rofous, Serco, Redefining careers, and few more but these 3 are the major ones.

are you asking about final client round? If yes they will call you after 2 days and will intimate you. If you are asking for rounds in rofous then they will say immediately whether you are selected or not.

I think the recruitment is still going on, You can go to rofous office and directly attend the interview.

Hello Mr. Bharath, actually i cleared all the rounds in rofous and attended google hyderabad interview on 22 Aug 2011 for written exam, they sai they will inform for the personal interview round in two days but still i didn’t got the call, i did very well in written. Hi Swetha, Please Contact rofous for the answer to your question. I cannot help you in this issue. just 3 Days Passed, So Don’t worry, the results might not be declared yet.

Once again hi bharath,as you attended the google interview, may i know after how many days you got call after the completion of written exam for interview. was it within 3 to 4 days or it took more than a week to get information from rofous to attend last hr round at google. please help.

Hii Bharath, I did M.Sc Biotechnology. I heard, any graduate can learn TESTING TOOLS. Is that true..? Will there be opportunities for me to enter the IT field if I get trained on Testing tools..?

I am not sure, it will be very difficult to find the interviews for BioTech Students in Testing Tools. If you have any strong references/recommendations go for it, otherwise proceed with your own discretion. Remember, Testing Tools is now a booming industry.

Hi Sweta, No Idea on this issue. But, I think the rounds in Rofous will be same for any post(as GIS Analyst), only the client round differs.

Sir, this is prasad is there any age limit for analyst position in google ? and is it required 10+2+3 education ’cause I have discontinued my intermediate in 1997 and completed B.Com through ambedkar open university in 2010 so, right now I have only 10th and B.Com and I’m 33 years old and 6 years experience in health care bpos as data entry, claim processing, as a team leader too so, am I eligible for this position ?

Hi bharath…I had an interview in rofous & i had cleared 2 rnds..i.e., JAM & Written, and I had been told that i will get call from rofous shortly within 10 dys…but i didn’t get call…So am afraid & i called back to company,i had told that am waiting for 3rd round(HR in rofous),he asked me to come on that day….I had been there on same day, & when i asked for my 3rd round i was told that i should wait some more time to get the call & then only i can have the 3rd round…I was dissaponted…..now it is almost more 45 dys…..what should i do..? U said dat the client process consists of only personal interview, but now the process has been changed, first round is online written test, questions from geography, gis, gps, english, google earth, google maps, aptitude, reasoning, essay writing on general topics, followed by personal interview. Btw what are u doing now? shall i know about u? 22 members are having client interview tomorrow, only from rofous, do u know on how many or on what basis the people will be screened much?

hi bharath i went to kelly today they said there are no openings for google at present and if evn though there are openings they jus need freshers.(2010 and 2011)..and i aslo went to rofous they didnt allow me to meet anyone in th office but said to come for jam round 2moro will they recruit 2007 batch graduates??

hi bharath shortlisted for personal round..i have done with 2 rounds jam and written…and as have been to UK for masters i have my diploma 2009 so they said no prob i can attened..
jam is a simple round…to the people attending rofous jus learn a topic and speak confidently i not the hr will ask to say a topic..so jus prepare and be confident they only check whether u can speak english or not..
coming to written geography questions like
smallest country
largest river
nautical mile used for( navigation)
3rd populous country
and about facebook, google social networking, african country( zombia),an few more very easy
questions..den 5 questions on critical reasoning this is very imp as everyone is missing to choose a correct ans and i dont remeber the question exactly..one is sigma and max that i have answered as b option..rest we have to think and tick the ans…all the best to all…

Hi Shashi, Thanks for sharing more Questions. In the interview, they didn’t ask me to explain about any products. They asked me what’s google wave? I replied, that’s it. Every Question i got is on map pointing and general questions. that’s it. Anyway i’ll try to gather some more information, if i get any, I’ll let you know.

Hello Shashi, Even at the time I attended the interview, there is a written test, But on that day they didn’t conduct it. I don’t know why they didn’t conduct it. We directly faced the interview. Since i don’t know the written test pattern I cannot inform you, and i cannot force other members to share the interview pattern. I cannot help you in both the cases. I suggest you to request the other members.

Hello Pavan, Please reply back to me with the name of the consultancy through which you attend the Interview. if you lost in the first round in the consultancy office, you can go and attend the interview once again next day itself. The best suggestion i can give you is ask the consultancy people itself for clarification on this issue.

Hello Pavan, You can try once again. If they don’t allow try thorough different consultancies like Kelly Services and Lerco.

Hey Pavan, Be Practical Yar. This rule is only if you failed in the Google Client Round. You said you’re rejected in the HR round in Rofous. You can go and talk to them and manage. It’s a consultancy yar.

@ Pavan,yes you can go & apply when ever you want to apply there are no terms & conditions,if you failed in rofous coz it’s a consultancy.

Hello Pavan, According to my knowledge, You just need to add new locations addresses in Google Maps. That’s it.

how many days the process will take?
The maximum of the members selected with the personalinterview in google will be cleared with the backgroundverfication or not?
Is this round very lite or there is any risk with this also as of the before rounds?

Hello Satvik, Thanks for the apprisal and I regret for the delay in replying. Absolutely no need to worry. Background check is just a formality and no student will be rejected unless he found with a very bad behaviour. Approximate time to get this process completed is 7 days. No risks. Don’t worry and enjoy.

Hello Satvik, It all depends on the Agency to which they give this work and the amount they pay. I heard that it would be completed in a week, may be they increased the time. Anyway, I think it’s not a big issue.

i don’t remember the date exactly,i think so it’s on23rd november and yes rofous people called me after 2 weeks and said me that i got selected

Hello Himaja, I’m not aware of the latest Written test pattern. It’s definitely a written exam, Not online.

hie i have done my client written @ rofous..the pattern has changed .its basically online xam with 30 questions in 45 mnts.and the pattern of questions are on critical reasoning,gk,quant(simple questions)…and please friends do help me for my last round of interview what do they ask basically at google

Nothing much expect that you need to pay atleast 1 month of your salary back or you’ll be blacklisted. I’m not sure of the consequences followed by different consultancies. Govt of India has already banned this bond system in 2008 itself, So No issues.

Hello Pooja, I think this is a new rule which I’m not aware of. If so, Don’t Inform them you’re doing MBA. Just attend the interview by your graduation qualification.

Gowtham, Interview at consultancy is not called as Client Round. Only Interview in Google is called as Client Round. In rofous, the pattern is updated and some of them have informed the updated pattern in comments, please check it out.

i attended one month back for GOOGLE map maker at Rofous but couldn’t clear the online test which they have conducted. But yesterday i got mail from some consultancy to attend for GIS openings. So can i attend that interview?? Actually i got to know that, once we attend for any profile and if we dint clear we couldn’t attend same profile for next
3 months. Is that true??

Hello Rohit, According to the information given by you, It’s clear that you didn’t attended Client round in Google Office. 3 Months rule applies only if you get failed in client round. Since you failed in the rounds conducted in the consultancy itself, You can attend the Interview next day itself once again. You can attend the Interview, You’re eligible.

Hello Gowtham, First you need to clear the written test, For Personal Interview You need to good at Map Pointing in NA&SA, You need to good at answering general HR Questions. Answering HR Questions like why google? why you want to work in Google Maps? is very important. That’s it, if you can do answer all these questions then you will be hired.

If it’s for Social Networking. Only your communications skills and knowledge on browsing Internet will be checked. I think you can easily clear the Interview. All the Best.

hii evry1 yesterday i went to google for client round,actually i cleared three rounds @ consultancy n got selectd..after two days they called me n said dat i got selectd..i felt happy but dono wich topics to prepare for further rounds.i thot it wil a client round but after going there first they conducted a aptitude test consists of 45 questions n it was tuff..but i got selectd..n in the final hr round i got rejected dono y i answered all the questions..felt vei bad;(
here are some questions wich i remember:
business related social networking site?
google products?
what is the hitlers party name in the year 1933?
critical reasoning,other questions like how many times in a clock will be in right angles in a 24hrs day?upstream downstream problem..etc..
really i wonder this is not gis process.this is for some social networking site like orkut n g+ and y these people are makin so tuff interview?????????????

Hard Luck Srija, Don’t worry. You’ll be working for Google so every round is tough. No Issues, you’ll definitely get a better job than this. Think twice why you’re rejected in the HR Round. If you understand your mistakes, you’ll get a better job in future and I really appreciate your Initiative for sharing questions.

Referral openings are also same. If any of your friends are working in Rofous then they can refer you for Interview, That’s it.

Hello Srija, There’s no need of reference if direct walkins are going on, but if direct walkins are stopped then reference is needed to attend the interview. Your friend who is working in google can refer you.

hi bharath…i am a student of niit and there was a placement of rofous for gis in google…i have attended that placement on feb 23rd 2012 and cleared my 3 rounds that day itself..they told me that our client round which was a online test in rofous would be held on feb 28th 2012 and i have done with my client round i.e, online test on feb 28th in rofous…after our test they told us that they will inform our results within 2 or 3 working days..but by today its nearly 5days and still i dint get any call or mail from them… so i just want to know whether they will let us know abt our result ? and will they call and inform only candidates who got selected ? or even they will call people who got rejected and let them know that ur rejected ? and how much time will they take to let us know abt our result ??… plss help me

ohhhh..!!! thanx bharath…..but i have been trying all those numbers from 2 days but no one is responding the call…. but from the older posts in this blog i have noticed that many of the people were saying that they got the calls after some 2 or 3 weeks etc like that….so i have a doubt that even i may get the call after some weeks or what ? as they told us that they wil inform results to us witin 2 or 3 working days for our next round., but its nearly 5 days na , so are there any chances of getting delay to announce the results ??? … my client round was very good and i am sure that i have done nearly 22 to 25 questions correctly out of 30 questions….so there may be chances of getting selected for the further round( i.e., final hr round in google office) na ??………. i am tensed about it now as i am very much intrested to get into google … so plsss can u help me with my above questions and clarify my doubts…? and what should i do now ???

@ krishna i gave my online test on friday i.e 2-3-2012 and i have recived call and email today i.e 5-3-2012 saying my interview today…….i am afraid you dint clear online test …hard luck …try again…!!!

What is the issue with ‘signing a bond’..??

rofous or any other consultancy, wil they make us sign the bond..??

Hello Namehth, This Bond system is banned by Government in 2008. So No company can officially harm you if you break the bond. So what they’re doing is, they’re collecting your certificates. If you break bond, Certificates will not be given to you. To get back your certificates you’ll need to pay them some money. Eg: 6 Months of your Salary. This happens in Small companies. In Big Companies, they’ll blacklist you, i.e., you’ll not be hired by any company once again because of bad behavior.

Hello Gaurav, If you join as a GIS Analyst, You’ll be in the payroll of the respective consultancy which hires you. You can never get into the pay roll of google. So You will not get a chance to convert into a Google Developer.

Hello Sania, Communication skills are important. If you are even average at communication and good at geography, you have good chances of getting selected. Wht don’t you try once? Be Confident, You’ll get selected. Don’t bother to ask for help.

Hello Chaitanya, I think they’ll not respond to you, You need to wait for their call. Regarding next rounds, procedure completely changed, so no idea on new procedure.

I have attended some rounds at rofous for the post of QA.
first was jam
second was written test
third was personal interview
fourth was online test
fifth was online test..
I attended the last online test on 02-05-2012.
I called Rofous many times and to my astonishment HR answered the call on 08-05-2012 and said that i got selected for the next round.
But I didnt get a call till now regarding the next round.
Kindly help me out.
Do u know that when the next rounds will be started and what will be those rounds.

Hello Shashank, 2009 Passed outs are not eligible for QA, But i think they are eligible for GIS and MM. Check it out. IN SAP you hardly find openings even for experienced, R u interested in any other Technology?? Have you registered with any consultancies?? I strongly suggest you to learn any other technology, If you keep on searching for Jobs in SAP and you don’t get it, It’s just waste of time. So in the mean while learn any other technology and try on it too.

Hello Shashank, These are old rules, I’m not sure of the new rules. They allowed all candidates regardless of the passed out year in the past. I’m not sure whether they’re allowing now. Why don’t you just go to the Interview, If they allow you It’s well and good, otherwise you can come back.

j went to few consultancies like impetus, mafoi,carrer logic for google process but they rejected me coz i hav gap afrer education…but they called me and said to come for interview and rejected…they only recruiting students who r fresh graduates or else experienced and those who hav no gap after education…but y these people r making fool out of canditates like me saying to come down to office for interview den rejecting..

I am shashi, i have attended Rofous interview for two rnds, and in the 3rd rnd i was not selected and this was for the post of QA(QualiTy Analyst).
This has happened in May 2012. Can i now again attend interview for the same post which i have attended earlier or else i have to wait for 6 months time break which every compony suggests for and then attend.

Hello Shashi, According to the rules we need to wait for 6 Months. Since it’s a consultancy we can take the risk of breaking the rules. Break the rule and attend the interview once again. If they accept continue with the process otherwise come back. Just think, They didn’t collected your details, so who will remember your Beautiful Face. they are:

star news has changed its name? what is the new name.?
founder of rofous.?
i answered first two quetions.
is there any possibility of getting shortlisted for further rounds.?
but i spoke to them in good english.

Yeah I ve got a call from Google Roufus stating openings for GTL process and v have to attend the interview again….and they also said that they are no openings for QA or Maps as of now and they are not recruituing anymore for these positions…did this happen to any of u ll and what do u think about this Bharat? Vishnu, HR Round will be a very general round. Be prepared on all kind of general questions and questions on your profile and you can crack it.
